The Seagate TapeStor Travan 40 GB is a bundled solution containing the Hornet 40
ATAPI drive, one data cartridge, backup software, an install poster and all required installation hardware.
But the $289 (MSRP) half-height
ATAPI drive also reads DVD-ROMs.
Expected to roll out of the factory in September, the
ATAPI drive will retail for only $549 with the SCSI version slightly higher.
Drive Image 4.0 works with IDE, SCSI or
ATAPI drives that are Multi-Media Command Set version 2 (MMC-2) compliant, which includes most new drives.
Unlike such products as GoBack, which operate in a somewhat similar manner, taking regular system snapshots and allowing for recovery to a selected time and date, reZOOM uses a dedicated drive that is not designed to be modified by the user and supports both SCSI and
ATAPI drives.
