It had already become obvious during Eileen Harris's concentration on what Adam had actually executed that the 3rd Marquess's modernisation of 1877 had shown an unusual sensitivity to the fate of any Adam features that he felt obliged to alter, to an extent where Culzean may be the first genuine Adam commission to be altered in a self-conscious Adam Revival manner.
The new room will be more strongly focused on Culzean and will display architectural fragments of both the genuine Adam schemes and those of the Adam revivals, as well as tracing the castle's place in Adam literature.
