Established: 1907.
Location:Along Washington's Pacific coast, offshore from Copalis Beach.
Facilities:Wildlife viewing sites.
Activities:Bird watching.
Special Features:Interpretive panels at Lake Ozette, Rialto Beach, Second Beach, Ruby Beach, and Kalalock provide information about nearby islands.
Habitats: A portion of 870 islands, rocks, and reefs. Many are rocky outcroppings exposed only during low tide; others are rock islands with salal, salmonberry, and a few stunted conifers.
Access: Public access on the islands is not permitted. Observation from the mainland or by boat, which should stay at least 200 yards away to avoid disturbing nesting birds.
Wild life: Pelagic birds including Leach's storm petrel, fork-tailed storm petrel, rhinoceros auklet, tufted puffin, common murre, glaucous-winged gull, western gull, Brandt's cormorant, pelagic cormorant, Cassin's auklet, black oystercatcher, pigeon guillemot, and double-crested cormorant. Also sea lions, harbor seals, sea otters and whales.
