(Swedish Björneborg), a city and port in southwestern Finland, on the Gulf of Bothnia of the Baltic Sea, in Turku-Pori Lääni (Province). Population, 78,100 (1973). A railroad junction, Pori is an important timber center of Finland, with sawmills and pulp-and-paper enterprises. It has machine-building, non-ferrous-metallurgy, textile and food-processing industries. It exports lumber products. The outer harbors are Reporsaari and Mä ntyluoto.
