The most common non-protein nitrogen (NPN) source used in ruminant feeding is urea, due to its low cost; thus, when prices of
protein feeds escalate (i.e., soybean meal), it is economical to use urea as a nitrogen supplement in ruminant diets.
Factors that hamper the growth of fish meal market are availability of various alternate
protein feeds including meat and soybean meal.
In Pakistan, information on protein degradability of
protein feeds is scanty.

protein feeds are available for grow-out of catfish (Robinson et al., 1994; Cho and Lovell, 2002; Li et al., 2003; Robinson et al., 2006).
