In-Memory OLTP and
Buffer Pool Extension to SSD along with a new design for cardinality estimation logic provide new levels of performance for mission-critical applications such as enterprise PLM.
To address these challenges a program could, for example, adjust the amount of offsets awarded based on measurement uncertainty, or establish a "
buffer pool" of offsets to compensate for any re-released carbon.
The size of the default
buffer pool is not explicitly defined.
However, the American Carbon Registry approach to
buffer pool requirements is flexible, as it allows for other insurance mechanisms, including the contribution of non-forest offsets as insurance.
In addition, the extracellular bicarbonate concentration is 25 mM and the phosphate concentration is around 5 mM; thus, there is much more bicarbonate than phosphate around to contribute to the
buffer pool.
--Rules of thumb for system development and capacity planning, e.g.,
buffer pool miss ratio tends to decrease with the inverse cube root of the
buffer pool size.
IO-Lite's worst-case cross-domain transfer overhead is that of page remapping; it occurs when the producer allocates the last buffer in a particular
buffer pool before the first buffer is deallocated by the receiver(s).
Dual buffering uses pages as the unit of transfer between clients and servers, but it manages both pages and individual objects in a client's
buffer pool. The approach is to segment the
buffer pool and to use replacement policies that are specific to each segment.
