closed cornice

boxed cornice, box cornice, closed cornice

A hollow cornice, built up of boards, moldings, shingles, etc., so that the lower ends of the rafters are not visible. Also called a closed cornice.

2. A wood cornice which projects only slightly and has no soffit, having only a frieze board and crown molding.
