Wherein, the radiation-based system is further segmented into electronic portal imaging devices (EPID), cone beam CT,
Fan beam, and others.
The development of CT scanning from
fan beam to spiral methods (6) has resulted in the development of in office Cone Beam CT (CBCT) scanners with decreased radiation dosage (7, 8) (Figure 1A, Figure 1B and Figure 1C) which are now widely available as standup, lie down, sitting and mobile CBCT units.
The antennas used for this study are linear patch arrays which have sharp
fan beam radiation patterns widely used for automotive radars.
"With its sound technological expertise and vast experience, GE has leveraged its nondestructive testing technology by implementing its unique scatter | correct technology into CT systems that combine the high precision of a
fan beam CT system with the up to 100 times increased throughput of cone beam CT inspection," said Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Mariano Kimbara.
The systems will feature pencil-beam scanning and will be outfitted with CBCT and
Fan Beam CT imaging technology along with an advanced workflow system.
A horizontal slit forms a
fan beam that is itself further vignetted by a mechanical chopper wheel, producing a pencil beam that would appear to be swept laterally at a speed determined by the wheel rotational velocity.
However for
fan beam, this translation is impossible unless
fan beam projections are rebinned as parallel beam projections [4].
In slot scanning, a narrow linear image sensor moves in synchrony with an X-ray
fan beam. As the tungsten blades of a collimator, located just beneath the X-ray tube, move from side to side, so the X-ray
fan beam sweeps back and forth.
As the product is transported along the conveyor, it passes through the X-ray
fan beam and absorbs some of the x-rays.
An analysis of the integral kernels for two well-known
fan beam CT reconstruction algorithms has been performed.
