The various sites of bleeding in case of posterior epistaxis include Woodruff's plexus situated on the posterior aspect of the lateral wall of inferior
meatus; posterior part of lateral nasal wall near the sphenopalatine foramen; posterior end of inferior turbinate; the middle turbinate and its medial surface; middle and posterior part of septum and floor of nose beneath the inferior turbinate.
We report a case of a 2 year old boy who presented with shunt extrusion from urethral
meatus which is a very rare complication of this procedure.
At our hospital, ESS begins with packing of the involved side of the nose and middle
meatus with oxymetazoline packs for a few minutes.
Disorders of female urethral
meatus are quite varied; in addition, the vulva and vagina are also affected by their own diseases.
During the insertion of a transurethral catheter, a dark red 2.5x2.5 cm polypoid lesion of a vascular structure protruding out of the urethral
meatus was observed.
It is connected to the surrounding parts by ligaments and muscles and is continuous with the cartilage of the external acoustic
meatus. There is no cartilage in the lobule or between the tragus and the crus of the helix, where the gap is filled by dense fibrous tissue.
All children diagnosed with foreign body in the external acoustic
meatus were recruited.
It revealed prominent mucosa at the urethral
meatus with continuous oozing of blood.
Collapse was considered to have taken place when complete closure of the acoustic
meatus occurred during the procedure.
We were able to create a common distal single urethra with a single
meatus, resulting in a good functional urethra and nice cosmetic appearance.
The main goals of this technique are to completely eradicate the disease, create a large enough
meatus for examination and mastoid air cells, and provide a self-cleaning epithelized dry cavity, and achieve maximum hearing.2,3 A large enough
meatus promotes rapid epithelization of the mastoid cavity and facilitates debridement and postoperative evaluation of the cavity.
Conclusion: We found that a larger UM size was more prone to the development of
meatus AGWs; however, being married, delaying sexual debut, and avoidance of multiple sexual partners seemed to be associated with a decreased risk of development of AGWs, especially within the UM region.
