data driven

Making data the driving force and focal point of the IT department in an organization. Although data represent everything that takes place within an organization, data are not always given the value they deserve. Programmers are too often interested in the logic and source code of their programs and look at data as a necessary evil, when in fact, data are the only reason for the applications in the first place. Data creation, data movement and data preservation represent the actions of every organization, large or small. See data administration and big data.
