Java ME
(Java Platform, Micro Edition) A version of Java for mobile devices and consumer appliances. Java ME has been widely used in Nokia phones along with the Symbian OS. Formerly J2ME (Java 2 ME), Java ME uses the K Virtual Machine (KVM), a specialized Java interpreter for devices with limited memory. The Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) provides the programming interface for wireless applications. The Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) provides support for a graphical interface, networking and storage. Sun Microsystems Inc (Nasdaq:JAVA), an IT technologies company, announced on Thursday (12 February) the availability of the JavaFX Mobile platform, enabling the Java wireless ecosystem to create solutions that leverage the Java Platform Micro Edition (Java ME).
Developers can use JavaFX Mobile to extend their current Java ME mobile applications, games and solutions with expressive features and functionality.
