The ratio of the peak area of C[F.sub.3] and C[F.sub.2] ([MATHEMATICAL EXPRESSION NOT REPRODUCIBLE IN ASCII]), estimated from the [C.sub.1s] spectrum of the air-side surface, was about 1/4.8 and is analogous to the 1/5 existence ratio of C[F.sub.3] and C[F.sub.2] groups calculated from the chemical composition of the perfluoroalkyl
side chain. This means that the top surface of the modified alicyclic epoxy resin in this study is mainly composed of the fluorinated
side chains which are oriented along the surface as mentioned in the previous section (Fig.
As observed among samples 2, 5, and 6, the [M.sub.c] decreased and the XLD increased as the
side chain content of com-patibilizers increased.
Importance of the bulky
side chain of antillatoxin (19)
At 4 [Angstrom], the backbone may appear connected, but
side chains might not be very distinguishable.
Penicillin skin testing can accurately predict a penicillin-allergic reaction, but is not predictive for cephalosporin allergy unless the
side chain of the penicillin or ampicillin testing reagent is similar to the cephalosporin
side chain being evaluated.
"A rubber belt over heavy cross channels with a steel
side chain is recommended for this application," he comments.
Now, however, we know that the [beta]-lactam ring of cephalosporins--unlike that of penicillin and ampicillin--becomes rapidly degraded, so that antibodies are instead targeted to
side chain structures.
The interrelationships between structure, antimicrobial activity, and side effects associated with various
side chain positions of the quinolones are discussed here.
Prior to the crystal structure determination, molecular modeling indicated that the [beta]Thr67
side chain hydroxyl group in the distal beta-heme pocket forms a hydrogen bond with the backbone carbonyl of [beta]His63 and is within hydrogen-bonding distance of the ND atom of [beta]His63.
The polymeric additive includes a polymeric backbone having substituents attached thereto, wherein the substituents include at least one urethane linked nitrogen bonded
side chain having about 5 carbon atoms or more and a terminal methyl group and at least one oxygen linked water solubilizing group.
Tocotrienols are a form of vitamin E, with an unsaturated isoprenoid
side chain rather than the saturated
side chain of tocopherols.
