Suffolk
a county in the southeast of Great Britain. Area, 3,800 sq km. Population, 561,500 (1973). Barley, wheat, and sugar beets are grown in Suffolk, and sheep and horses are raised. The fishing port of Lowestoft and the trading ports of Felixstowe and Harwich are located on the North Sea. The county’s largest city is Ipswich.
