The coelom in birds is divided into 8 cavities: the pericardial cavity, the right and left pleural cavities, the right and left ventral hepatic cavities, the right and left dorsal hepatic cavities, and the intestinal
peritoneal cavity. (17,18) The intestinal
peritoneal cavity contains the urogenital organs, gastrointestinal tract, spleen, and left and right abdominal air sacs.
